Having spent the preceding three months in a
state of high emotional instability, and the previous two days moving into our
house in San Diego, we were grateful for the opportunity to completely disengage
our brains for the weekend courtesy of our friends Ron and Pati, who are part
owners of a luxury villa adjacent to a golf course in a gated community in the
Palm Desert resort community. (Palm Desert is a few miles south of Palm
Springs and is home to a host of assorted Bob Hope-esque celebrity golfer types.)
The previous weekend we had made an astro-pilgrimage to the famous Mt. Palomar
observatory, and this batch of pictures includes that as well.
There is little to report, save that we shot
about 109 on two holes of golf; it was a lounge-in-the-pool weekend. On
the return trip, we took the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which takes you in a
rotating cable car up to 8500' for a panoramic view of the desert valley, and
drove past a number of unearthly wind power farms.
